When it comes to our beauty and health routines, tools that are tried and true are key (Benefit, don’t ever eliminate your Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer or I’ll be lost!). But every now and then, we all wonder: is there a better/easier way to do this? Well, when it comes to exfoliation and correcting our postures, there is! And we’ve got the scoop on these beauties right here.
1. Lumo Lift by Lumo Body Touch
Sure, life can weigh us down, but we don’t have to look like we’re giving some gigantic haystack a piggyback ride. Enter the Lumo Lift.
The magnetic square clasp detaches from the rest of the magnetic sensor. You place the magnetic sensor inside your shirt and the square clasp on the outside of your shirt above the magnetic sensor. Then, you show the Lumo Lift what your optimal posture is by sitting up as straight as possible and pressing the square clasp. When it vibrates, you’ll know that Lumo Lift has “learned” your correct posture. After that, whenever you start to slouch, the Lumo Lift sensor will give you a gentle reminder to correct your posture by vibrating softly. You can also download the Lumo app and get more information as your successful days of posture improvement proceed. Now, no one (Mom!) ever has to remind you to sit up straight.
At a price tag of $465, it’s not cheap, but at least, this is a one-time expenditure with no monthly subscription. According to Lumo, when you hold yourself upright, there’s a “surge of hormones that make you feel and look more powerful.” The increase in confidence that comes from knowing that you’re doing something good for your body, like improving your back muscles and endurance is enough justification.
If you’re a serial sloucher, don’t worry that it might be buzzing you all the time. You can set Lumo Lift to remind you after a period of time, e.g., once every 30 minutes or once an hour.
Additionally, if you’re using the Lumo Lift while you’re working out, remember to attach it to an area not prone to heavy-dripping sweat. This one’s not waterproof.
2. Hairby’s Facial Cleansing Brush
For me, exfoliation is almost a religion. If I do nothing else at night, I wash my face and exfoliate. In my mind, it’s the only way to keep the nasties (oil, dirt, dead skin cells trying to settle in, etc.) from taking over and planting flags. I don’t know about you, but when I’m really exhausted from work and I just want to stumble into bed, I really have to fight myself to begin my nighttime routine. So, I was thrilled when I found out that a beauty tool, the Hairby brush, could give me the same level of (or better) exfoliation in about half the time.
The bottom line is that the Hairby Facial Cleansing Brush does its job well and at $19.99, it’s priced just right. After I take off all of my makeup, I wet the brush and my face, squeeze some facial cleanser on the brush, and let the brush’s 6,700 sonic pulses per minute and soft bristles do their thing. As I move it around my face, it gently removes all of the dirt, oil, and makeup residual, and sloughs off dead skin cells. The slender tip makes it so much easier to clean around my nose and chin. The result? My face looks smoother, brighter, and so much cleaner than exfoliating by fingers. If I’m not too tired, I do my happy dance.
For those of you wondering, this brush has fine, soft bristles (on one side) and coarse, soft bristles (on the other). It’s made of premium food grade silicone, and it’s easy to clean with a basic toothbrush and some body wash. If your skin is sensitive, don’t worry. The Hairby Facial Cleansing Brush has various levels of intensity, so you can use the one that feels right for you.
Are there are any awesome beauty tools that I missed?
